Mission

Our board members believe the Arts, and its many forms- visual, literary, performance- have the power to bring people together, to inspire an
exchange of ideas, and to help nurture creativity in all disciplines including science and technology.

Art Does It believes, through creativity and innovation our community benefits, and it will be
our Board’s goal to encourage artists and innovators to consider the former welcome center as a
home for the expression and exchange of ideas, through on-going art exhibits, collaborative
programming with educators in the arts, environmental sciences, technology and more;
traveling Art Does It arts exhibits to areas where the Arts are dearth, public art projects on
Dauphin Island and beyond, and the welcoming of the arts and innovators from places, without
borders, to Dauphin Island.

ADI’s mission is to “live for art, not from it”, and defines itself as a non-profit with the spirit of cooperation and charity for the greater good. Our mission includes but is not limited to:

-Providing long-term exhibition space for local artists
-Providing short-term exhibition space for traveling art museum exhibits and guest artists
-Holding regular gallery hours
-Conducting regular artist demonstrations (painting, sculpting, wood boat building, music performance, theater, open mic poetry)
– Showcasing the visual and performance arts in a monthly community open house event
– Participating in DI community events such as the DI Art Trail
-Holding annual community events such as the ADI Holiday Bazaar
-Coordinating and conducting Arts (visual, literary, performance) instruction with collaborators such as the DISL.
-Writing grants for support of public art projects and traveling arts opportunities to under-served areas.

We thank you again for the opportunities waiting ahead, on behalf of all the artists wanting to
make the world a better place.
